   Haralson County is located in Western Georgia. It is bordered by Polk County to the north, Carroll County to the south and east, by Paulding County to the northeast, and by the Alabama State line to the west.Haralson County lies approximately 50 miles from Atlanta to the east, 100 miles from Birmingham to the west and 100 miles from Chattanooga to the north.

   However, Haralson County has much to offer on its own. It is characterized by rolling, green hills, tall Georgia pines and a variety of hardwood trees. It is also home to one of the cleanest rivers in West Georgia. The Tallapoosa River heads up in the heart of Haralson County and meanders to the Southwest as it makes its way to the State of Alabama. Fishing, boating and swimming are common activities in the clean water.

   There are four incorporated cities; Bremen, Buchanan (the county seat), Tallapoosa and Waco. Bremen and Tallapoosa have been named "Better Home Towns" by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Tallapoosa is developing a reputation as a city reclaiming its past as a Victorian community in the deep south. The city is populated by various antique and collectible shops. Each Thanksgiving merchants host an open house which is the traditional start of the Christmas holiday season.
